PD Walk vs Putrajaya Walk

Hello friends

I like both places, Port Dickson and Putrajaya. Something that is to my liking is both places have interesting walking trails. And common to the two is that they have these trails by the waterside. Of course, in Port Dickson, it is by the sea and in Putrajaya, by the lake.

Taking a walk by the seaside or lakeside has many benefits. The water has a positive impact on our brain. It is calming and relaxing allowing us to be focused and reflective especially when walking alone.

In Port Dickson if you choose to walk on the sandy beach it might veto the calming effect of water. Why, because your feet keep sinking in the sand. All your concentration would be focussed on the extra effort you have to make to move forward. One good thing though by struggling you know you are getting more exercise and therefore burning more calories. Walking on the sandy beach is indeed a good workout.

If you are just taking a leisurely walk you would get the best from nature. Allow yourself to be caressed by the breeze. The sea air is supposed to have a healing effect and possibly can mend whatever there that is broken in you. It heightens your good mood

The scene is inspiring, the vastness of the shimmering water, the blue sky, the white clouds. And on the water edge, trees swaying in the wind and at times there are beautiful birds in sight.

Of course, to me, the place is a little too familiar so there is not really the feeling of awe watching that vast sea but I would always enjoy hearing the sound of the waves or if it is in the evening the view of the horizon on sunset.

Back in Putrajaya, I experience the same kind of peace when walking on my favorite lakeside trail. But the place is too quiet. The lake water is calm unlike the sea water in PD where there would be roaring waves moving with the coming of high tide amidst the strong breeze. Here, there is no sound of waves to drown your gossiping if you are with friends. The wind is gentle, the water just ripples.

While you walk, occasionally you can hear the sound of the birds that don't fly much but just remain stationary there in the water almost like they are sleeping. It is like a lazy-fare situation but then it is good if you bring along a camera. Can always snap their picture.

Beware sometimes you might encounter a biawak the monitor lizard which is there to complement the ecosystem. Biawak used to attack our chicken in those early days in the kampung. I wonder whether the sleepy birds are easy prey too. How about the harm to us humans. But really it is nothing to be afraid of because your determined steps would just frighten and drive it away.

Anyway as I said earlier I like both places. I want to be here and I want to be there. How nice if I can be in both places all at the same time. But a human has only one life.

Although there are other more beautiful places in the whole wide world these two are beautiful enough for a raayat marhean like me.

So if you are picnicking in PD don't just sit there under the casuarina tree. Walk, move, move . . . take advantage of the nice walking trail laid out before you.

I always enjoy my PD walk and just had one the other day.  Am looking forward to enjoying my Putrajaya walk sometime next month when some family matters require me to be there in Putrajaya.

Happy walking.

Birds In The Rain

Here is my favourite place
In the morning where I perch
Between flights in my search
For food to survive

Here I use to rest
When I can shake off the dust
Pick away the pests
From my feathers to look my best

,

Sometimes together with a friend
We are here you can find
Every day at most time
Come rain or shine.

Way to Happiness

Hi Everyone

I have just finished reading a blog article about ways and how to make yourself happy, satisfied and feel contented with your life.

Not that I am desperately finding a way to happiness that I had to read that article to guide me but then it was worth reading simply because it was there for me to read. And the article mostly concur with the way I think about the state of being happy but I do not totally agree on the ways to seeking happiness it proposes.

I find it can be amusing to add arguments to the idea, agreeing and countering what is put forward by the writer. If I were to have friends here with me surely we would have a lively and humorous discussion that will have us in stitches, knowing there are some jokers among us, and babble away to no end.  Since I don't have anybody to chat and to laugh with so I just quietly write.

The article says some people need considerable material possessions and the presence of other individuals to make them happy which is wrong, though for each person happiness and contentment is subjective.

By right, it says, the power or the will to seek happiness is within oneself and many people overlook that fact. If you know the way you don't need to have much money or need others to help make yourself happy.

The article then goes on to share five ways to finding happiness.

The first is it suggests you to allocate more time to yourself. In short it says in the past you might be bogged down by work and you are also so worried about the future which makes you feel that you have missed on something in life. Try doing what you have never done before like watching the movie alone in an empty cinema (what a weird  person), which can bring forth the feel-good factor in you.

I agree, but not sitting alone in the cinema he he. Experience something out of the ordinary, like joining a fun run, can make your day.

Secondly according to the article is to talk good and praise yourself.

Not to the extent of glorifying yourself, I hope.

It says praise yourself every morning, think about your pluses and also some minus to gauge your self-worth. That way you can improve your self esteem and hence become  more cheerful.

Hey hey hey no. You may terlajak thinking that you are so good and clever and terus become delusional, be very careful . . .

I think the author means that you shouldn't be like a peacock if you are not. Peacock has beautiful feathers so it doesn't matter for it to strut around to show off and be proud and feel good about itself.

I think he means you be honest with yourself just like the kingfisher below, if she feels the blue is beautiful, though  not as beautiful as the peacock's why not spread the wings out and feel good about it too.

The third way is to pamper yourself.  It suggests that you dress up and be smart and polished even though you are not going anywhere or attending any function. Do not be stingy to have yourself pampered at the salon.

Do the dressing up and apply make up everyday so that it can become a habit and you will feel nice about yourself as now you have good image at all times.

Ahh all dressed up and nowhere to go ?. . . What a disappointment.

And for the housewife when all dressed up they are happy to sit pretty only. Why spoil the make up and the nice dress toiling in the kitchen. Pay the amah to do the cleaning and washing up in the kitchen. The husband may not be happy ha ha.

And when the men are smartly dressed up and look handsome . . . your guess is as good as mine. Of course he feels happy getting all the attention . . . ahem.

The article says dressing for yourself ok.

Well back to the article.

The fourth way is give yourself a treat. Eat out at your favorite eatery. When your tummy is happy you are happy too, it says.

I think everyone will agree with this one. The only drawback is that when you are happy you tend to forget the amount of food that goes into your stomach . . . and when it is over you may not feel happy after all . . .

The fifth and the last recommendation given to make you feel happy is that you go on a holiday no matter where the destination. Take a few days be away so that you can be relaxed, mind and body. Do not think that you need many days and a big budget to have a holiday . A short  holiday at  nearby places will save you from spending much and of course from the hassles and haste of travelling far.
Travel far if you have the budget and if you think it can make you happy . . .

(Experienced traveler can identify the famous places pictured below)

But small budget cause less headache and you remain happy longer, right? So consider the the advice in the article that you can opt to go to nearby places for your holiday.

If you insist on going to the first world country you can see happy people but you might not be the happy ones . . . this I say . . .

Go around take pictures and be happy
Feel happy gazing at the moon, just go KLCC at night.
Reading lighthearted material itself can make you happy. But real happiness takes more than that . And whose wise words are these? Shakespeare's ?

"I always feel happy
You know why?
Because I don't expect
anything from anyone!
Expectations always hurt.
Life is short . . .
Be happy . . .
And keep smiling . . .
That's life . . .
Feel it, Live it, Love it and
Enjoy it !"

Cheers . . .

Bye . . .

Singing n Dancing n Exercising

Hello again

I like music and songs and enjoy singing and humming along whenever I hear songs that are familiar. When young I always thought I could sing. But the shyness got me to nowhere. Only in the school choir heheh. And now I am too old for anything hmm.

My radio is seldom on now because nowadays some people have issues with  music thus listening to it is supposed not to be encouraged. So to appease them I would just sing in my heart and sometimes insert the earphones to my ears and have my own little concert.

I  joined friends for karaoke sessions a few times before. Oh my, how we belted out the numbers with all our hearts. Some perhaps wanted to give vent to their frustrations. Don't care how our old voices sound. Put the blame on the microphones ha haa. I like those moments when we ladies can forget home and housework for a while and have some fun together. Is that wrong?

Music and songs can do wonders. Try exercise without music. You will stop in a short while and don't feel like continuing.

Thats why I took up line dancing.

I started by joining the classes but found it difficult to follow may be I was a little dumb . Later I stop going to the class and learn on my own through the videos. Studied all the basics and the theory and soon I was able to read the step sheets and able to translate it into action. I don't say the whole thing was easy. After nearly half a year I was confident enough to invite friends to join me and we danced and exercised together for a few years.

Now we have separated due to everybody having their own commitments. As for me I am torn between the loves for the different hobbies. Instructing the line dance group three times a week took a lot of my time and I had to put a lot of efforts learning new steps and practising before I could present perfectly to the class. Leading and counting and correcting the moves seeped out a lot of energy. However I enjoyed those four years.

Of course I do not quit line dance completely. It is a very good form of exercise . Doing it alone is always good you can choose the type of music you like. Dance and sweat while singing along and enjoying yourself.

I like such music and songs, lite n easy . . .

We also get music from the birds . . .

That's it my entry for this time hope you have enjoyed reading.

Cheers . . .

Bye . . .

Breakfast With The #Kingfisher

Hi

Good morning

Breakfast is supposed to be the most important meal of the day. It is said to be the catalyst to start off your metabolism to a more active state.

Most working people especially women they usually miss their breakfast because they have a lot of things to do in the morning...feeding the baby see the older kids wake up and ready for school get ready their dressing their husband's (the manja ones) etc...etc..

Some spend extra time in front of the mirror of course..

Some miss their breakfast 'cause they do not want to be caught in the jam....

Pensioners have all the time to prepare and enjoy their breakfast ..

Its out of their own free will to have an early or a late one..to have an elaborate one or just be simple..

No matter what their metabolism is not going to run so fast ... like an old engine..

My breakfast today
Bread
beef bacon
cucumber..
nescafe' with powdered milk
no sugar...

His breakfast today..
A healthy diet
I manage to get a video

Midway the camera ran out of memory

Went back into the house to fix things and came out to continue

The bird was resting

It must be too full oblivious to the presence of a squirrel

Nothing interesting so I went back into the house.... I have to..

Came out again to have a peep if the kingfisher was still there

Yes it was there... grooming itself..

A good start to a new day...

Till my next entry....

Bye....

#Kingfisher On My New Year Eve....

Since we are just a week into the new year I think it is not too late for today’s entry to feature my notes about my new year eve.

I wrote..

This is that time of the year. Today is the last day of this year. The eve of a new year. Whatever the day my life would mostly always is the same.

I am not affected by increasing age. I am not negative. My very pessimistic neighbour used to ask …. you still doing this..doing that…my answer… I am still in the swim of things….

I had an early breakfast the usual cup of Nescafe and a slice of buttered white bread. What else…

Today’s routine –morning, swim.

Checked all the swimming essentials..yes.

Not to forget, the camera.

It’s a 5- minute drive. The club pool is not that big. It has only 5 lanes so if 3 swimmers are already inside I would prefer to wait. Some swimmers like to slap hard on the water, their legs kick so strongly to propel themselves like motor boats. They create ripples, waves . I don’t like that. Let them finish then I will go in to do my 15 laps. Today only two swimmers were in there and one, the man whom I nicknamed the Olympic man was already floating on his back relaxing and cooling off, he had finished his laps.

What a nice feeling to be in the water. I achieved  my 15 laps..mix.. front crawl and breast stroke also the back stroke. I can do the butterfly but being at this age I think it would not do justice to my back.

Felt so good and fresh after the swim.

The morning sun, the light breeze and falling leaves and out there the rippling sea - a beautiful picture, a happy ambience.

At the car park I could hear and see the birds,

Took some photos ...

Here we meet again
The pictures are blurred because they were taken through the windscreen. ….

I came out from the car to get a clearer view. But they were gone.

Oh there ....

The partner was on a different  branch, they were playing chasing each other

How very nice if I could be there longer and be free to see and stare and feel what’s around and not be bothered by other things that can clutter my thoughts.

As usual….

At 5 went to the tennis court, expecting some hard core tennis friends would also be there early (at 5 pm we consider early because most are scared of the sun) . I waited but  no one came. No one around except one club worker doing some chores . O o o… the club will close at six.  There would be a party tonight. New year party. It happens every year and i still don't know?

The quietness of the court ground  evoked some kind of nostalgic feeling ...and I have always been thinking that I am not affected by the coming of the new year ....its just another day ...but I am not. Hmmm  are my tennis friends going for the party tonight ? Good for them to be able to be merry and to enjoy despite their age. Mingling among  friends amidst  a  little  music  singing and dancing while waiting for the countdown.

Me? No no no .

Born into a culture of too many don’ts I got to accept this mundane life.

Would you?
